Have you ever thought what is in your soft drink before consuming it? I am going to tell you few things that are in it. Re-think about your beverages.

Ingredients: 

Sugar: 12 ounce serving of soda contains about 9 teaspoons of sugar. This can lead to weight gain. Drinking soft drinks can lead to type two diabetes, metabolic syndrome as well as hypertension, excess belly fat, and insulin resistance. Side note: an average male American 9 teapsoons of sugar a day is his total recommendation for that day. Female: its 6 teapsoons of sugar a day.

In diet soft drinks: Aspartame is an artificial sweetener found in diet sodas this is linked to an increased hunger. 

Caramel Coloring: It contains 2-methylimidazole and 4 
methylimidazole. which are two chemicals that may cause cause lung, liver and thyroid cancer in mice or rats.

Sodium: Sodas have linked to increase risk of stroke because scientist believe there is too much sodium content.

Phosphoric Acid and Caffeine: These two can cause osteoporosis.

Recipe of the Week: Kids Broccoli Salad


Northville Prompt Weight Loss

Makes 5 servings (1⁄2 cup per serving)
INGREDIENTS
2 1⁄2 cups chopped raw broccoli 1⁄4 cup non fat Greek yogurt
1⁄4 cup light mayo
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1-2 teaspoons sugar
2 tablespoons raisins, currants or cranberries
2 tablespoons chopped nuts (cashews, pecans, almonds)
DIRECTIONS
1) Wash and chop the broccoli and set aside.
2) In a medium bowl, combine the yogurt, mayo, vinegar, sugar, raisins and nuts. 3) Throw in the broccoli and mix well until evenly covered with the dressing.
4) Chill and serve.
Per serving (1⁄2 cup): 90 calories, 6g total fat, 1g saturated fat, 170mg sodium, 8g carbohydrate, 2g fiber, 5g sugar
